We’re so proud to share that Hope Pastures has been awarded a Gold Yorkshire in Bloom award!
Many people think that Yorkshire in Bloom (Part of Britain in Bloom) is about how pretty your petunias are, or how big your begonias grow, but it’s not. It’s about encouraging communities to improve their environment by gardening together for the good of people and animals.
When the judges came to Hope Pastures, they said it is a real visitor attraction with a warm welcome, colourful planters and gardens, and a strong eco-ethos. They also loved that we planted mint and marigolds for the donkeys’ enrichment treats!
Our gardens are cared for by just a few people who volunteer, giving so much of their time, creativity, and energy, especially through the last hot summer months. They conserve water and use every drop collected in our water butts to keep things growing.
The judges loved our Secret Garden woodland walk, celebration garden, and all the pollinator-friendly planting that creates “a real buzz.”
