Re-homed March 2013
Rosa was just a small foal when she was rescued along with Twiglet from starvation and neglect. They were rescued by an elderly gentleman who, although well meaning had not the means or experience to provide what they needed. He approached us for advice on worming and we visited the foals, having seen the condition they were in we offered to take them both into our care for some urgent attention. Both were seriously underweight and full of parasites Throughout all of their rehabilitation Rosa was a feisty young foal and full of character. We had to clip her to get through her thick winter coat to treat the Lice-anything else we tried just didn’t get to work through all that hair! She protested a lot at being clipped but when we saw the extent of the lice and mites we knew it was necessary because her fur was alive with them. It was shocking to see how thin little Rosa was underneath her fur too.
It took months of hard work but they came back to full health with lots of feed, Vet care and TLC from our staff and volunteers.
Rosa has now found a permanent home with some larger horses at a beautiful yard, with her own posh stable and lots of nice rugs. Her loan family absolutely adore her and she is planned to be a riding pony for the children once she is old enough to be trained.
