Raven was originally found straying in Ireland and was rescued by a kind lady. She was in foal and after a while she gave birth to Midnight and they lived quite happily together, until the owner could no longer care for them. Searching everywhere in Ireland she had no luck finding them a suitable sanctuary.
Eventually the Retreat Animal Rescue in Kent offered both ponies the safety of their stables and they stayed there for a couple of years whilst Midnight grew into a beautiful young man, who was the double of his mum.
We heard that The Retreat were really struggling with the sheer number of rescued equines they had I their care and that they were desperate to ease the load, so offered our help because we had an empty paddock. We try to help out other rescue centres when we can because it’s so important that all who help animals work together.
Soon enough Raven and Midnight arrived at Hope Pastures, and stayed here and at some grazing nearby for a while. We tried for a long time to re-home them together but sadly in the end had to separate them, and both found good homes. Raven is keeping a beautiful pony called River company and will start her ridden work this summer. They have a beautiful big field and lovely stables to live in just outside their owners house. Midnight is keeping another of our ponies, Lucky company in his loan home and hope he will begin his ridden training soon too.
