|Charlie had been through a lot in his short life, by the age of just 2 he had been through several homes. He’d even been ridden around by kids! When we found him he was tethered up without feed or water, along with another horse who’se tether strap was embedded into her skin. This was very painful and infected, so the RSPCA came along and removed her for immediate veterinary treatment. However this left Charlie who was left lonely and distressed at the loss of his friend. We are asked to admit him and couldn’t let him go back to being tethered, so Charlie came to us for all of the necessary Vet treatment. He was quite frisky and would regularly chase the staff and volunteers across the yard, which was quite frightening! We were pleased when he was able to be Gelded and his hormones settled, and we paired him up with another young pony, Shamrock and they made great friends. We would have loved to keep the two together but because we always need space for the next rescue we began to search for a good home for Charlie. A lovely couple came along who needed a companion for their other Cob, and fell in love with Charlie as soon as they met him. By now he was a gentle and well mannered young horse! Charie soon moved to his lovely ‘Forever Home’ and is very settled and happy, he will begin his ridden training soon and may even be trained to pull a trap, as his Loan owner is an experienced driver.|
