Available for permanent loan in the Yorkshire and Humber area currently stabled at Instinctive Horse Training in Hull.

Piper is a black 4 year old ¾ Welsh section D gelding.Piper is an affectionate, friendly pony who is very trainable.

He loves exploring and interacting with people and is looking for a home where he can be socialised and continue his education. Ideally this will be in a home experienced with positive reinforcement training or a loaner interested in learning this method as Piper has predominantly been trained using this and habituation.

Training and support is available if the right application comes in for individual handling lessons with his current trainer.

Gelding only home preferred.

  • Up to date with worming, vaccinations and dentist.
  • Good to groom
  • Good to lead, does need further practice in new and novel areas
  • Generally ok with the farrier- he is growing so can struggle to balance for hoof trimming, therefore does need extra time and patient handling
  • Good to catch
  • In the early stages of long reining, wearing a saddle and bridle and lining up at the mounting block
  • Beginning to be led around quiet roads in company

Piper is currently standing at approximately 14hh-his sire is 14.2hh and his dam is 14.3hh.

As he is still maturing we feel he will benefit from a home who will continue his ground training until he is more physically ready for riding.

He is in need of a home that is very experienced with young, green horses and be given the time, patience and kind handling to enable him to continue to grow in confidence and set him up for a happy future.

He is in need of a home with geldings only or a mixed herd with mares who are able to physically and mentally tolerate his behaviour if he shows a lot of interest and pesters them initially, especially when in season. This is purely behavioural and his testosterone levels are normal. He is fine in general with mares and will calmly stable next to them and lead out with them. This is a behavior that is present when some mares are in nearby fields although he is currently in a field next to a very strong mare with no issues.

For this reason a yard that can be flexible for careful introduction to a new herd is important.

Piper needs a home with very secure fencing-he respects electric fencing if it is tall and switched on, but has been known to jump fences to gain the company of other horses if seperated, so this is an important factor in ensuring his safety in a Loan home. Hedges, dry stone walls and high post and rail/wire would be preferred as perimeter fencing.

Lots of videos and photos available on request. Rehoming fee applies for Piper of £350
