He is very green for his age having had minimal education as a youngster.
He can quite happily be caught, tied up and groomed at his current home. He lives in a mixed herd with young and old horses of different sizes. Marley is quite dominant in the field and can be especially defensive around food.
He needs someone to form a bond with him and really get to know him. He has a very lovable and cuddly side to him, he loves being pampered and having his head and ears rubbed.
He is now happily letting us groom out all of his feathers and apply hoof oil, but due to past experience with a hoof ascsess he is very uneasy about having his hooves picked up, so this will need regular gentle encouragement.
Marley is a smart horse who does learn easily but can get frustrated if things aren’t explained clearly to him.
To lead, Marley is good once he is in a routine but has been known to spook a little and become strong once in new surroundings, or when something scary appears!
There is no reason why Marley can’t become a good riding horse with time and patience-both of his parents are good riding horses and his mum enjoys show jumping. However we must stress that he is not for a novice, only very knowledgeable horse trainers will be considered to ensure Marley can move forward and lead a happy life.
