It is with a heavy heart that we have to let you know that our much-loved long-term resident, Sago, passed away unexpectedly last week due to complications from colic.
Sago was not just a pony; he was a cherished member of our Hope Pastures family. His cheeky personality brought joy to the hearts of many visitors, staff, and volunteers. We all have so many stories about Sago, visiting care homes, pinching ice cream, going to the pub, and the church, giving confidence to volunteers, engaging with the shyest of children on pony days and giving the best cuddles; he is and will remain a Hope Pastures legend.
We understand that this news may be difficult for many of you. We are especially sorry to bring it so soon after the passing of our beautiful soul and Sago’s good friend Freddie.
We provided Sago with the best care; he holds a special place in our hearts, and his presence will be deeply missed.
We want to thank everybody who supported Sago in so many ways, for the love and care our staff and volunteers showed Sago during his time here and to all his sponsors and fans. Because of you, he got to continue living the adventurous life he loved and he was the most amazing pony ambassador.
If you have any special memories or photos you’d like to share, do post them here
Together, we will continue to cherish his memory and carry on the important work of our sanctuary.
RIP Sweet boy
