Poor Ernie was rescued having been found tangled up in barbed wire, he had been stuck there for over 28 hours and was dehydrated and very depressed-he had given up hope.
Since his rescue, Ernie has come along really well thanks to his carers and their dedicated love, care and attention.
He is now around 7 years old and is at a local training yard, having a refreshment of his ridden work. He is doing really well and is a sweet pony all round, trying his best at everything that is asked of him.
Ernie is approximately 13-13.2hh and is a Cob, so he is a hardy pony who prefers to live outside as much as possible with suitable shelter. He can be stabled for short periods of time if needed.
Ernie can be a little bit sensitive around hoof handling, this is due to being tangled up with barbed wire around his legs as a young colt.
With kind, calm and patient handling this has improved and we are more than happy to provide advice and guidance in this area of training.
He can still be handled and have his hooves trimmed so long as he is given proper consideration and allowed to remain confident and calm. Of course, a few treats when he is really brave go a long way!
Ernie is available under our loan agreement, subject to a home check approval and Ideally would go to a home in the Yorkshire area, although we would consider further for the right home.
Being a Cob it is important that his weight is kept in check so keeping fit and healthy is an important requirement.
He is a friendly pony who enjoys the company of people and for his mind to be kept active, and would thrive on positive reinforcement training to continue to build his confidence.
Rehoming fee applies for Ernie of £300
