What we do…
What we do… Hope Pastures rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes horses, ponies and donkeys. We also provide the opportunity for people to meet the animals and learn about them and how to look after them.
You can visit everyday free of charge 10am to 3pm (2pm in Winter). Our visitor centre is open at weekends and bank holidays, with activities for you to do, information, souvenirs and refreshments.
Some of the activities we offer in the sanctuary:
We cater for all different kinds of groups, including schools, brownies, toddler groups and pensioners. Sessions can run for as little as an hour up to a whole day and we have a range of educational and fun activities we can arrange for your group.
Contact email@example.com for details.
Our Pony Days started in 2006 and since then nearly 600 children have attended. As well as having lots of fun they’ve learned about the importance of animal welfare and how to care for animals.
Pony days take place in school holidays from 10am to 3pm.
See Pony days for more information.
Birthday parties run for 2 hours and they include pony-based activities/games, a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the yard to meet the ponies and ‘hands on time’ grooming (brushing and plaiting) them The birthday child also receives a free Pony Adoption.
For more information see Birthday Parties.
Pony 1 to 1’s and Family Fun
Meet the ponies and spend time grooming (brushing) them. The visitor centre is open for refreshments and we also run tours and fun activities for the family. £3 donation per person/child if you wish to brush a pony – no charge for just coming for the fun!
10am-12noon Wednesdays during school holidays. Turn up on the day or book with firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like time with a pony – they’re very popular!
Hope Pastures’ Experience
A great way to get to know our animals, a Hope Pastures’ Experience is for 1 to 2 people (or children). It includes a personal tour of the sanctuary plus time grooming/looking after one of the ponies – make sure you bring your camera as a photo of you and your pony is sure to be ‘a must have’. Most Experiences run for about an hour, but we can organise longer if you wish.
See Meet the Ponies for more information.
Pony Days for ‘Grown Ups’
If you’ve always wanted to spend quality time with ponies and learn about them and how to look after them, then this is for you! The session includes a tour to meet the ponies, mucking out your pony, filling haynets, preparing his water and feed, pony handling and grooming.
See Meet the Ponies for more information.
Events and shows
We run lots of popular events and shows, including Spring and Autumn Fayres, a Fun Dog Show, Pig Racing Evening (battery operated!), Summertime Special & BBQ.
See Events Diary for more information
Summer School Holiday Activities
As well as meeting our ponies, during the summer school holidays we have all sorts of fun pony-related and animal-themed activities at the sanctuary. There are things for you to do, individually or as a family, everyday. There’s no charge, so just pop in anytime and see what’s here.
We have a range of tasks where groups of corporate volunteers can help. These include fence and shelter painting, gardening, barn and site clearance and fence repair. We organise special days for groups from 2 people up to 30 (we have lots of jobs!) Feedback from all of our groups shows they find the day very rewarding.
For more information contact email@example.com.
Attend local shows, fetes and fairs
Throughout the year we go to a variety of local shows, school fetes and fairs. We usually have our own stall and often one of our ponies comes with us.
Our ponies go out on visits to schools, centres and care homes. They’re very popular and the people who meet them find the experience very therapeutic.
Give talks and presentations
Our team enjoy sharing their experiences and would welcome the chance to come to your school/group/organisation to explain what we do and how we make a difference.
If you’re interested in Hope Pastures coming to any of your events or to visit your group, contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to book.
