Hope Pastures uses your donations to prevent suffering and to improve and save lives. We’re a small charity, with a highly committed team of passionate supporters, volunteers, staff and trustees. 98p in every £1 you donate is spent on the animals.
In ‘corporate-speak’ we rescue, rehabilitate and re-home horses, ponies and donkeys. We also provide the opportunity for people to meet the animals and learn about them and how to look after them.
The sanctuary is open free of charge everyday and, based in Leeds, is easily accessible by foot or public transport. We also run educational and fun group visits, Pony Days and volunteering sessions (including for the elderly, schools, brownies and resourced provision groups) and we take ponies out on therapeutic visits, for example to drug/alcohol abuse centres and care homes.
Our values reflect this openness and accessibility:
- Caring and thoughtful
- Honest and open
- Respect for all
- Environmentally sound
We know there are areas where we need to improve to fully embody these values, but we are constantly working towards them; for example we have recently undertaken a full environmental audit and will be implementing the recommendations within this.
