Rosie

Rosie is a very pretty Welsh Section A mare who is 10 years old. She was rescued from the meat market along with some other foals when she was 6 months old. The family who bought them gradually re-homed the other ponies and were left with Rosie, who had become very overweight. When they could no longer care for her they asked us to take her and she has settled in well with Toddy. Rosie has never been ridden due to her nervous nature.

Rosie has settled in well in her new home although at first she wanted to
be the boss of the field but she soon made friends and now has a best friend who she loves to look after and is always by her side.
Rosie is such a cheeky pony and enjoys running around the field and
showing off to the other horses to get their attention.
Her trust with her new adoption family has blossomed, and she enjoys all
the attention and cuddles she recieves and is much loved.
Rosie has come on leaps and bounds and is like a new pony which is great to see

Flicka

Flicka is a Shetland pony mare who’s owner could no longer care for her
properly, she is quite elderly and was used in a riding school in her
younger days, but is in good health and has found a good loan home where she is keeping younger horses company.

Pebbles

Pebbles is a 2 year old pony who was found straying on a busy road in
terrible weather and was emaciated and had badly infected rain rot on her
back.
The police and RSPCA could not trace and owner so we admitted her into
Hope Pastures to begin her long process of rehabilitation.
Pebbles has a lovely personality and loves people despite her ordeal. We
were lucky to find a very good foster home for her where she spent the
summer once she had gained enough weight and strength to travel. There
she gained even more weight before going to her ‘forever home’ with a
young lady who adores her. Pebbles is now very happy and healthy and
enjoying daily walks and loves being pampered, she has lots of new young horse friends to play with in the field and has settled well in her new
home.

Bunny, Honey, Soraya and Buttercup

Bunny, Honey, Soraya and Buttercup are a group of 4 welsh mountain ponies who were destined for the meat man until a group of kind people stepped in and paid their met value to save them from their fate.
All ponies except one are registered pedigree ponies and it is so sad that the economy and the poor value of horses means that many fit, young and healthy horses, ponies and donkeys are unwanted and have such a low market value that many thousands a year are used as pet and zoo animal
food.
Two of the ponies were just 2 years old, one was 5 and the other 17 years having being used as a breeding pony for many years. All ponies have now found good loan homes and Bunny has had lots of success at local shows this summer with her young owner. Soraya and Honey are being socialised and will be trained as riding ponies next year, and Buttercup is a companion to a beautiful horse called Amber and they are the best of friends.
