Projects
We have a number of ideas for the sanctuary which will enable us to take on more animals and also give the sanctuary more functionality.

Here are a few of our ideas for the future.

  • Increase the number of stables which would include an isolation / hospital block for new and sick horses
  • Have a dedicated training area for the horses
  • Convert one of our existing buildings into a site office upstairs and a visitor / educational centre downstairs, which we can use for a variety of functions.
  • Re-new all the fencing.
  • Make the viewing area more attractive for visitors.

We are hoping to achieve these projects through external funding and not through public donations which are to be used solely for the care of the animals.

Numbers and photo's refer to locations on the future plans image.

Land Securities, Leeds(14th December 2007) along with a number of their contractors, volunteered their time and resources to take part in a CHARITY DAY at Hope Pastures to complete a number of projects. They included fencing and painting a new paddock that will be used for a training area, re-roofing Paddy and Tina's stone built stables that were desperately in need of repair and re-flooring Shazeke's and Trigger's stables.

8. Parcelforce Worldwide, Wakefield (March 07) came to complete a comunity challenge at the sanctuary. What we wanted was a garden with trees where we could remember the residents that are no longer with us, that would also give us a bit of a screen, and would also make the sanctuary look good. We are very pleased with the results!

1.Replace Fencing. (May 06) We have made a start on the new fencing which not only makes the fields more secure, but also makes the 'crush' area a lot more attractive to visitors. We have also re-designed the layout to make more room for the training ring which is to come.
