Charlie (arrived at Hope Pastures 22nd February 2010)

Charlie is much more settled than he was but still proves to be a tricky pony to care for as he will not settle in a field with other horses unless a person is there to stand with him
Charlie has poor eyesight, but can definitely still see most things. However he has not made friends with Prince, Sparky or Thelwell as hoped-as whenever the come to meet him he squeals very loudly and kicks at them.
We hope that by the end of the summer he may be happy to be left for the day in the old ponies field but at the moment we are building it up ten minutes at a time.
So Charlie spends most of his day wandering the stable yard and then in the afternoon he gets a walk in the field and helps us muck pick.
Another worry with Charlie is his weight, although he has gained lots of weight he is still very thin despite being on plenty of high calorie weight gain feed, because of this we had some blood tests taken and sadly the results showed that Charlie has organ damage, so he is now being treated with Heamatinic supplement to support his liver and antibiotics to clear up any kidney or other organ infection.
On the bright side Charlie is happy in himself, has lots of energy and his personality is coming out and he is proving to be quite a character.
He is much loved by everyone and gets lots of love and fuss.
